There’s a place for you at PTGDU, whether you’re looking to connect with others, share your experience, or contribute to our work.

Be Part of What We Do

PTGDU brings together people who care about guide dog partnerships and want to make a difference for guide dog teams. Current and former guide dog handlers, people considering a guide dog, puppy raisers, blindness professionals, and other supporters are welcome.

Support for Guide Dog Handlers

Members support one another by sharing experiences, information, and encouragement. PTGDU also offers two funds that provide practical support to guide dog handlers.

Emergency Veterinary Expense Fund

PTGDU’s Mary T. & Curtis D. Lovill Trust Fund helps eligible Maine handlers pay for emergency veterinary care for their working guide dogs. You do not need to be a PTGDU member to apply.

The Ellis–McKenna Memorial Fund

Established in memory of Patricia E. Ellis and Leona R. McKenna, this fund helps PTGDU members participate in group opportunities that promote the inclusion and acceptance of people with guide dogs.

What We Do Together

Members turn their experience and ideas into educational resources, advocacy, and community outreach. You can attend a meeting, contribute to a publication, help with an event, or share a resource in your community.
